Pharrell Williams' LV Lovers: A fragrance that will divide the community I Symphony of freshness, warmth and sensuality
I've been eagerly awaiting the LV Lovers: the bottle and the inspiration for this fragrance, combined with the fact that Pharrell Williams was active here, really picked me up in terms of marketing. As a passionate blind buyer, only the full bottle comes into question, of course.
The inspiration for this fragrance is said to be the life-giving power of the light that unfolds in the woods; at least that's the idea according to Louis Vuitton. Before I go into the fragrance itself, I would like to start by mentioning that this fragrance will probably divide the community like no other. On the one hand, the LV Lovers is DNA-technically special, on the other hand, the fact that a star like P. Williams was in the lead certainly also plays a role and it may be downgraded as a "commercialization product".
I would also strongly advise against trying the fragrance only on a test strip. Surprisingly, the fragrance develops very differently on a test strip than on the skin, and yes, the fragrance is far better on the skin! After a certain time, an almost sour note emerges on the test strip, which does not come up on the skin (I suspect the galbanum),
But now to the LV Lovers itself:
- I find the opening really voluminously refreshing; in my opinion, it is the fresh bergamot paired with a revitalizing, slightly spicy ginger note; perfectly balanced.
Inspiration from the fragrance: Here, the "brightness" of light comes through the fragrance as an idea.
- Very quickly, the clearly perceptible galbanum comes to the fore, an ingredient that is unfortunately not often used in perfumes, as it is very difficult to process and incorporate into a fragrance and is not always generally compatible. It gives the fragrance a slightly green, even woody, leafy scent that develops beautifully on the skin. Opinions will differ here; either you like this "niche" impact or you don't.
Inspiration from the fragrance: the galbanum exudes a green, leafy, light warmth and follows the idea of light breaking through the forest
- This is followed by a beautiful creamy, woody sandalwood base in the drydown, which, together with the cedarwood, envelops the galbanum and allows the light freshness to flow into a creamy, woody, light green base Inspiration from the fragrance: This is where the radiant warmth that seeps through in the drydown really comes to the fore
- The bottle is unique and for me one of the most beautiful that Louis Vuitton has. Period.
- The longevity is okay for this kind of fragrance, I hesitated for a long time whether it was 7 or 8, but you have to keep in mind that we are dealing with a soft fragrance as a basic idea, which is supposed to radiate exactly this idea of gentle warmth. Why should a fragrance like Oud Maracujá be such a ballbuster? I don't understand many people who don't concern themselves with the ideas behind fragrances, but simply expect maximum performance from every fragrance. If this is the case, then just buy Shaghaf Oud Eau de Parfum, please. The sillage, on the other hand, is really a 7, as the fragrance is effectively intended for personal enjoyment and for personal well-being, in this respect it radiates well, but rather in the midfield. The fragrance may need a little more time to mature, but it's okay.
Do I regret buying it? Absolutely not!
Did LV hit the mark with the LV Lovers? Absolutely!
Will everyone like the fragrance? Absolutely not! It doesn't have to be, I personally like it quite a lot!
Definitely go test it, and as I said, on your skin! :)
PS: Some perceive the fragrance as a combination of Santal 33 Eau de Parfum and AnOther 13 Eau de Parfum. However, since I am not familiar with these two fragrances, I would appreciate your opinion :)
