The vanilla cappuccino
Black leather, where are you? Only tonka and vanilla!
After receiving this relatively unknown Mancera fragrance as a sample, it was now my turn to test it and I have to say I was more than convinced. At first, the name, which suggests a dark fragrance, misled me, as I didn't find it dark at all.
As soon as I sprayed it on, it evoked associations with a warm, sweet vanilla cappuccino that had just been freshly pressed from roasted coffee beans.
The fragrance starts with a strongly sweet tonka bean and warm vanilla. These are also the two components that can be intensely perceived until the end. The first few minutes are also the only ones in which you can perceive the leather and the spicy pepper. After that, they simply disappear and suddenly there is no trace of the oh-so-dark leather. But that's not a bad thing. The only weak point I have to mention is the tonka bean, which is sometimes too sweet and reaches its peak in the first 15-30 minutes.
I only notice the floral notes and the patchouli very slightly and I don't think they add any significant value to this fragrance. On the other hand, a beautiful spicy tobacco note and a fleeting oud are part of the progression, which in my opinion intensively enhance the fragrance and make it a real beast.
It continues with notes such as tobacco, leather and oud fading into the background, leaving mainly vanilla, tonka and ambergris in the drydown. The ambergris, among other things, takes the fragrance to a new level with its creamy, soft texture and fits perfectly into this harmony. I only really notice the vetiver at the very end after at least 6 hours through a lovely spicy component. This brings the fragrance to an end with sweet, warm and gourmand vanilla notes.
The longevity is above average, as the fragrance easily lasts 8 hours on the skin. The sillage is also impressive and will certainly lead to a few glances and compliments.
Black Noir also reminds me of other warm fragrances such as Grand Soir. Despite its rather unknown appearance, I think that this fragrance will appeal to many people. It should definitely be tested!
