Oriental Aquate from Spirit of Dubai I It goes deep into the sea, but not into the Mariana Trench like with the Megamare!
Spirit of Dubai has managed to positively surprise me with so many fragrances. Can the Dubai - Bahar Eau de Parfum keep up? Yes! An oriental aquatic that reflects so many facets in a fresh fragrance like no other; from fresh-aquatic, to sweet, to floral and salty. All this in one bottle; I'm thrilled again!
But now to the fragrance - and yes, as is typical of Spirit of Dubai, it is practically impossible to smell individual notes, as everything is perfectly blended, despite so many ingredients! That alone is an art in itself, but that's for another time!
What does the Dubai - Bahar Eau de Parfum smell like?
- The fragrance is really aquatic at the beginning, slightly salty and slightly fruity at the same time. A really special constellation that I have never smelled before and please stop comparing it to Invictus Aqua (2016); there are worlds between them if you know a little about fragrances. It's really difficult to pick out individual notes; you can perceive this maritime-salty note well, paired with a concise lime, but also something slightly salty paired with the fruitiness (yes coconut very little, the other fruits are very well mixed into "one", but cannot be differentiated).
- The floral side of the fragrance then comes to the fore; jasmine, rose and iris are clearly perceptible and merge with a creamy, woody accord before the fragrance then moves into a fresh, woody, ambery base, which then radiates potently for several hours. The oud in the drydown gives the freshness a special twist, but is well tamed. Really top, but already special.
- The longevity is really brilliant for a freshie and the projection leaves nothing to be desired, especially in the first 3 hours. The fragrance itself lasts over 7-8 hours on me and also projects well over time.
A really special, oriental freshie that cannot be found anywhere else on the market. I can't quite understand the comparisons to Megamare and partly Invictus Aqua (2016), even if I can marginally understand the derivation. Why?
- Compared to Dubai - Bahar Eau de Parfum, Megamare is far less complex and much more "oceanic"; I would almost say that Megamare is in the Mariana Trench, and Dubai - Bahar Eau de Parfum is on the coast to a maximum of knee-deep in water; from the salty, dark degree. In addition, the Megamare is far more linear for me, has no real progression, no floral aspects, but nothing sweet either.
- I can understand the comparison to Invictus Aqua (2016) even less, yes for a few seconds you get a hint of a memory in the opening, but that's it. There is a brief aquatic phase in which associations could arise, but these are fleeting and negligible.
Overall, a great fragrance for people looking for an unusual oriental freshie! Definitely test it in advance :)
