Modern oriental chypre that combines traditional Arabian perfumery with modernity! I Flowers at the edge of the forest on a rainy summer's day
Spirit of Dubai has quickly become one of my favorite houses; a brand that simply combines that oriental twist with modernity in a great way. Dubai - Roeya follows the idea of the "sands of time"; combining the rich past with the modernity of the future. Has this fragrance succeeded? Let's see!"
Let's look at the Dubai - Roeya in detail:
- Dubai - Roeya is one of the few fragrances that are missing in my Spirit of Dubai collection; for good reason, because I still find it difficult to buy a whole bottle, as something is simply missing for me; what? we'll see at the end of the review!
- The fragrance starts spicy-fresh, almost tart-green and peppery. A very special opening, because it smells "simple" overall, but then somehow complex. Typical for Spirit of Dubai, as individual notes are very difficult to differentiate because the fragrance is so well blended. You can perceive individual themes such as neroli, mandarin, petitgrain and a light rose, but they are practically indistinguishable for untrained noses. The opening really smells like a rainy forest.
- The fragrance then moves into a floral heart note, which is characterized by a light leather accord in the background. Of the flowers, we notice rose, but also jasmine; and thanks to the thyme, there is also a slightly green-earthy accent, which makes the perfect transition to the drydown, which is characterized by creamy woods, oud and earthy-green, mossy oakmoss. Ambrette seeds are also perceptible and contribute to this beautiful drydown.
- The longevity is in the upper third and the projection is also very good in the first few hours! As usual, there is nothing to criticize about Spirit of Dubai.
It's a great, beautiful oriental-inspired chypre fragrance, which has a yet complex progression and is extremely well blended; but somehow this green-earthy doesn't pick me up; even in combination with this floral side. Don't get me wrong, the fragrance is great and unique, but somehow it doesn't meet my expectations at the moment. But if you are looking for an oriental, special daily, this is the one for you.
