Holī
What I see in Trayee or what trip it takes me on? Trayee for me is the Indian Holī festival in all its infinite splendor and joy. The festival of colors or also known as Hindu spring festival. During this time the boundary of castes with all its restrictions, regimentations gender orders and social status are removed. One blesses oneself with Gulal. The consecrated, colorful dust. Made from flowers, herbs and roots. This festival is a figurative, colourful frenzy of colour, music and smells. So beautiful you'd think you were dreaming. Let's dream a little bit!
Trayee
As if in a frenzy, you walk through the laughing, dancing and happy masses of people. Colorful saris dance around you in dazzling colors to the beat of the music. The air is fruity and citrusy hot and there is the smell of resinous cannabis. Then suddenly you throw the gulal at each other and lovingly anoint each other's skin with it. The holy and blessed dust. A sea of colors explodes around you and you think it is raining dried, spicy flowers. All the people look like a living and iridescent rainbow dancing away in happy ecstasy. Then the masses part and out of the iridescent, iridescent and colourful dust that floats in the air like a mist, Ganesha emerges meekly smiling and dancing and anoints your forehead with lime green, spicy sweet juices. Followed by a herd of white and magnificently decorated elephants. Kali stands behind you and gently takes you in her many arms and dusts you tenderly with saffron yellow gulal and ground spices. She shows you with one of her many sky-blue arms the way to Vishnu's pearly world serpent that leads to heaven. And so you ride on Durga's tiger up the snake until you come to a stop in front of Brahma who is sitting in a lotus blossom. He takes you tenderly on his lap and all three of his heads smile peacefully at you. The scent of sweet resins and incense rises around you. You feel warm and safe and think your heart would burst with happiness and you would have arrived in divine Nirvana. But this is not so! And so Brahma holds you with his arms like a little child which should see and recognize. And so you look down on the earth. And what you see makes you sad and melancholy. Around the dancing, colourful, dazzling and colourful spot down on earth it is dusty-grey, dull and ashy. Like dull, dusty, smoky vetiver. And you know,.....when the colorful dust has settled,it will soon be that way again everywhere!
Conclusion
Trayee probably couldn't be a better olfactory way to describe India. Trayee smells of the colors and impressions of India. After fruity-milky juices. After crushed spices, herbs and sweetish resins and earthy-green leaves and roots. All underpinned by dry,smoky-sweet incense and milky sandalwood.Trayee is positive,hopeful,colorful-shimmering like the colorful gulal powder of the Holī festival. Trayee is heartbreaking-beautiful like a dazzling sari or an Indian prayer. But it doesn't stop there! You have to follow this perfume to the end to realize that it contains a lot of sadness, melancholy and melancholy. Towards the end, Trayee crumbles to dust and ashes in the form of smoky-dirty and dusty-matte vetiver. A final chord that brings to mind that not everything is as colorful-shimmering and magnificent as it seems.
Who is sensitive enough will recognize it,...certainly even!
